1. IMU CET
The Indian Maritime University (IMU) was established on 14th November 2008 as a teaching-cum-affiliating university under the aegis of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, with Chennai as headquarters. It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas.
IMU has a total of 6 IMU Campuses in India as given below:
1. IMU Navi Mumbai Campus
(Erstwhile Training Ship Chanakya, Navi Mumbai)
2. IMU Mumbai Port Campus
(Erstwhile the Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research and the Marine Engineering Research Institute)
3. IMU Kolkata Campus
(Erstwhile Marine Engineering Research Institute and Indian Institute of Port Management)
4. IMU Visakhapatnam Campus
(Erstwhile The National Ship Design and Research Centre, Visakhapatnam)
5. IMU Chennai Campus
(Erstwhile National Maritime Academy, Chennai)
6. IMU Kochi Campus
IMU also has 17 Affiliated Institutes across India.
IMU conducts a Common Entrance Test (IMU-CET) every year on All India basis for admissions to its courses for IMU campuses and Affiliated Institutes.
As per DGS Training Circular 12 of 2020 dated 01.04.2020, all MTIs regulated by DG Shipping are required to admit candidates on the basis of IMU-CET making IMU-CET mandatory for admission to DGS approved Courses
Hence Candidates seeking admission in Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Sc (Nautical Science), and B.E/B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) to any MTI (Govt. or Private- Affiliated to any University) are required to qualify in IMU-CET.
2. TOLANI
Tolani Maritime Institute is one of the largest maritime educational centers offering MARINE ENGINEERING and NAUTICAL SCIENCE degree programs. These degree programs at TMI have been awarded Grade A1 (Outstanding) by ClassNK in the Comprehensive Inspection Programme of DG Shipping. The programmes are also awarded SME Grade 1 (Outstanding) by CRISIL . The assigned grade reflects TMI’s excellent placement track record, qualified and experienced faculty, industry leading infrastructure, strong financial standing and professional & committed promoters.

- Class X mark sheet
- Class XII mark sheet (Candidates appearing for Class XII exam in 2022 may submit these copies after declaration of results.)
- Leaving / Transfer Certificate / Birth Certificate (For age proof)
- Passport (if available) Please note that Passport is mandatory for admission.
- Each applicant must submit only one application form. Please do not send hard copy of the form to TMI.
- Application/online test fee will not be refunded in any case, if the form is filled more than once.
- The application form must be completed in full, in English.
- The full Name and Date of Birth entered in the application form must be same as that appearing on your School Leaving Certificate.
- Please ensure your postal address, including PIN code and telephone numbers (with STD codes) are correct and free of spelling and other errors.
- Please note that Passport is mandatory for admission.
- Please note clearing IMUCET is mandatory for admission.

It has been brought to our notice that few agents / agencies / individuals are contacting admission aspirants offering admission to Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS) Lonavala and subsequently sea-time opportunity with the Executive Ship Management Pvt Ltd in exchange of substantial payments. They also are claiming to facilitate application and selection process of the institute and found to be using fake letterhead in sending e-mails mentioning online interviews on behalf of SIMS Lonavala.
